Problem Reported: Consumer had applied for a Bank’s credit card which was promoted by the representative as lifetime free. The Bank had sent many e-mails/made calls, but the consumer had not got the e-KYC done. But even without e- KYC, the card was delivered. The consumer had not got the card activated, but the e-mail statement had a billed amount of ₹ 250 as annual charges. Consumer’s grievance was that without e-KYC and card activation, how could the bank generate the bill of ₹ 250 when the representative assured that it was lifetime free.
Escalation by NCH: As the Bank is a convergence partner of NCH, the grievance was responded by them on the portal itself stating” Considering your valuable relationship with us and as a goodwill gesture, we have arranged to reverse the annual fee debited to your card along with the corresponding service tax. This credit will reflect in the statement of next month.   However, please note that the said Annual Fee is applicable towards your card account from next year onwards”.
