Problem Reported: Consumer had made a hotel booking in end January 2021 for two days in February 2021 for his daughter’s wedding and had paid an advance of ₹3,00,000. All the functions were planned at the agreed venues and all the guests including the “Baraties” were invited. But later, the hotel senior staff (Sales Manager and GM) were calling him daily and pressurizing him to change the venue because they had got some big booking for those dates. Consumer tried to explain to them that this was not possible at the last minute as all the functions were already planned. But, it seems that the whole team of the hotel senior staff was involved in this unfair practice.
Escalation by NCH: As the Hotel is not under Convergence with the National Consumer Helpline, the grievance was e-mailed to the Hotel, and the response received was “the hotel has refunded the agreed amount to the consumer and the cheque is collected from the hotel.”
Consumer Remark in INGRAM: When NCH spoke to the consumer, he said that he had booked the hotel for two days but he was allowed to use the hotel venue and their services for one day only. The Balance amount of ₹2 Lac approx. was refunded to him, hence issue resolved. He is happy with the response.
